Wonderful news – Coldingham Primary School, supported by the PFA, has successfully applied for a grant from Tesco’s ‘Bags of Help’ initiative and is set to receive at least £8,000 towards a large wooden gazebo with decking and seating which can be used as an outdoor classroom, play structure, school and community meeting place. We now need your help to vote for us in the Berwick store from this Saturday (27 Feb) to next Sunday (6 March). We will be competing against two other local projects. Our gazebo is guaranteed but if we get enough votes we could get up to £12,000 and will be able to buy more equipment, including outdoor cooking kit, magnifying posts, wormery, buddy bench and a water feature. Please vote for Coldingham Primary School if you are instore!
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.
