Newsletter 16th August 2016

Welcome back. I trust you have had an enjoyable summer and are now looking forward to this new school year.

‘The Year Ahead’ evening

We would like to invite all parents and carers to our open evening NEXT TUESDAY (23rd August) from 6 – 7pm. The purpose of the evening is to share our plans for the coming year, to meet the staff and provide information about school arrangements. There will be a presentation from Mr Bewsey to begin before time in classes. We hope you can join us.

Staffing update

We are welcoming new staff to our team this term, each with different roles and responsibilities:

Mrs Sandra Brodie is joining us as our Learning Support teacher, replacing Mrs McGregor. Mrs Brodie joins us from Duns Primary School, where she has worked for a number of years.

Ms Muriel Clarke will be providing our Principal Teacher cover, teaching P3/4 every Tuesday. Ms Clarke will also be working with P1/2 on a Monday morning, releasing Mrs Easingwood to support the nursery staff. Both of these roles are temporary for a period of 12 weeks.

Ms Linda Todd joins us from Chirnside Primary school to provide pupil support on Friday mornings in P3/4.

P7 Away Day

On Monday 22nd August, our new P7s will be completing their ‘P7 Induction’. Working with Mr Bewsey, the pupils will develop their understanding of what it means to be a Primary 7 pupil and the added rights and responsibilities it brings. Pupils will be travelling by service bus (venue tbc) and they will need a packed lunch. Please complete and return the EV2 form.

Parents and Friends Association (PFA)

We are continuously grateful to our PFA for the ongoing support the group provides. At the start of this new school year, we would like to encourage you all to consider the role you can play in the PFA. The group has a number of functions including fundraising, school project planning and curriculum development consultation. The dates of PFA meetings will be shared in due course and we hope to see many of you then – it is a great opportunity to be involved in your child’s schooling.
