Newsletter 9th November

Fantastic Fireworks!

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Parents & Friends Association for the huge success of Saturday’s bonfire and fireworks event. Despite bracing winds and biting cold, we saw a great turn-out. Comments from visitors were incredibly positive, with many in awe of the amazing firework display. Particular thanks go to Alison and Krishna Ramcharran for co-ordinating preparations and proceedings and to their willing team. Thank you.

Open morning / Enrolment week

The nursery (and P1/2) will be holding an open morning on Thursday 24th November, 10.30 – 11.30 as part of enrolment week. Please let friends and family know about this event and encourage prospective parents to visit our wonderful school.

Christmas Show

‘Tis nearly the season to be jolly. The children are starting to rehearse songs for this year’s Christmas show. There will be 2 shows – one from P1/2 and P3/4 and a second from P5/6/7. Please put the evening of Monday 19th December into your diaries. Times are to be confirmed.

Gazebo

As you will have seen, our long awaited Gazebo is now taking shape. The finished structure should be ready for use next week and the children are already very excited about it. We hope it will be a useful addition to supporting outdoor learning, as it provides a large sheltered space. Thanks go to Raquel Lloyd-Jones for her efforts last year in helping secure the Tesco Bags of Help funding.

Numeracy

I have spent time in classes over the last 2 weeks observing the teaching of Numeracy. As always, I am pleased with the quality of teaching and learning going on in our classrooms. The pupils were all motivated and engaged by the variety of Maths concepts there were learning. During Thursday’s In-service, our teachers will be benefitting from a day of intensive training about a Maths resource ‘Numicon’ that, we hope, will enhance our already good practice.
