Beach Clean

P3-7 pupils did a great job on Friday last week when they supported the St Abbs Voluntary Marine Reserve to undertake a clean of Coldingham Bay. The sun shone and everyone enjoyed the morning. Our thanks to Diane and Hana as parent helpers, to Jim and Sue from the Rotary for supporting and to Sarah and Andrew for organising the event. Look out for a picture in the Berwickshire News soon!

This week

Hockey and Rugby Festival

On Thursday, pupils from P5,6 and 7 will be travelling to Eyemouth High School to take part in the annual sports festivals. Primary 5 pupils from all local primary schools will join a ‘Rugby Taster’ workshop while Primary 6 & 7 pupils will compete in a Hockey tournament. The event starts at 10am and finishes at 12pm. Lunch will be served once the children arrive back at school. The generic EV2 form that you signed at the start of the school year covers this excursion. If you are NOT wanting your child to take part, please contact the school office.

PE reminder

THURSDAY (28th) will be PE day this week instead of Friday. Please ensure your child has appropriate gym kit and earrings are suitably managed.

Harvest Collection

As part of this week’s Harvest assembly on WEDNESDAY, we would like to invite the children to bring in a food item that will form part of a Food Bank collection. Food items need to be ‘long life’ not fresh (a tin of baked beans, soup, a packet of pasta). We will pass any items on to our local Food bank. Thank you for your support with this worthy cause.

Next week

Monday 2nd October

Primary 7 pupils will be travelling to Galashiels to take part in the annual ‘Crucial Crew’ event – a personal safety roadshow. An EV2 should have come home. Pupils will travel by bus, escorted by Mr Bewsey and Ailsa McNeill. They will need a packed lunch and a snack piece. Normal school uniform is to be worn.

After school Netball

For P 7’s only will start on Monday 2 October from 3-4pm. This will continue after the October holiday until the Netball tournament on Friday 3 November. Please complete the attached slip and return to school before Monday.

Parent Consultations

Consultations with your child’s teacher are on Monday 2nd or Tuesday 3rd October. Please contact the school office if you are having any issues using the new online boking system.

ZooLab visit

To support the class learning about animals, we will be visited by ZooLab on Wednesday 4th October (not 27th September as stated in last week’s newsletter). This is a very exciting learning opportunity organised by Mrs Easingwood and Mrs Tharme.

Half term

Don’t forget, school is closed on Friday 6th October and reopens on Monday 14th October.
