Newsletter 5 March 2018

Snow!

Last week certainly saw the forecast weather arriving in force. On behalf of Scottish Borders Council, thank you for your patience and understanding as schools were ‘made safe’.

Reminder – New morning routine / requests to see staff

We pride ourselves on being an ‘open door’ school – we want parents and carers to feel welcome. To help us continue with this, we ask for your support with two changes to current arrangements:

1) If you need to speak to Sheila at the start of the school day, please wait until AFTER the children have gone into school at 8.35am. Sheila can then pass messages to class teachers.

2) If you would like to speak to a class teacher directly, please contact the school office and request a mutually convenient time.

Both of these changes will help school staff to use their morning set-up time effectively and efficiently. Thank you.

Nursery Enrolment week – EXTENSION

Given the interruption to normal schooling last week, the planned enrolment week has been extended from Monday 5th – Friday 16th March. There will be some changes to nursery provision from August 2018 that may affect some families. Information about enrolment and the changes is available as follows:

1) Our own nursery open morning – Tuesday 6th and Tuesday 13th March, 10-11am

2) SBC Website – https://www.scotborders.gov.uk/info/20038/school_and_nursery_places/528/apply_for_a_pre-school_nursery_place

Please share this information with any families that you think may be interested.

P345 Assembly

Please note that the open assembly mentioned in last week’s newsletter was added in error – my apologies for this. P345 are not hosting an assembly next week.

Parent Consultations

We will be hosting Parent Consultations on Tuesday 27th March and Wednesday 28th March. This will be an opportunity to meet with class teachers and discuss your child’s progress. We will share more information in due course.

P6 EuroQuiz

Unfortunately, due to the snow and the interruptions to school life, SBC have had to cancel this year’s EuroQuiz. This is obviously disappointing for the pupils who have work so hard to prepare. We will work to hold a local inter-school quiz instead.
