All parents and carers of pupils at Coldingham Primary School are automatically members of our Parents and Friends Association (PFA). This group enables parents/carers to be involved in the work and life of the school, gain information on educational matters, and influence school decision making. As well as supporting school in its work with pupils and representing the views of parents, the PFA plays a key role in organising events and fundraising to provide the ‘added extras’ (for example trips, visiting science/ theatre groups, new library books) which enrich school life for all.
Annual events bring the school and the wider community together, and include the school fayre, end-of-year beach barbecue, and the Bonfire Night fireworks display. Recent fundraising efforts have gone toward adding equipment to the playground, as well as installing the children’s kitchen/enrichment classroom.
The saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ is especially true in a small community, and our school is fortunate to have an active PFA with strong community links. The PFA is a great way for parents to come together and support both the school and one another.
We want the school to be as good as it can be for all our children, and the village, and being active within the PFA is one way to help this to happen.
We generally meet on the first Friday of each month from 11am ’til dismissal. We welcome everyone to come along, enjoy a treat, and get involved.
